We need to talk a little about the new Duchess silhouette! She was inspired by watching the film 'The Duchess' with Keira Knightley, which explores the life of Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire. An English aristocrat, Georgiana was famed for indulged in her love for fashion, inspiring the Georgian era’s trend for elaborate, tall hairstyles. She became known for her fashionable style, beauty and hostess skills, loving nothing better than throwing fabulous parties and balls. In the film she often wears 'curtain-front' gowns, and we simply felt we must create a modern day version to honour this strong, and controversial woman!

Currently available in soft Angelic Kisses cream, the colour reminds us of old linen or faded chamomile flowers that have been pressed between the pages of a dusty romance novel. She creates the illusion of purity and innocence, angelic, otherworldly beauty, and a soft demeanour. We, however, prefer to be inspired by Georgiana herself, who often threw caution to the wind and was thought of as the complete opposite to angelic in the Georgian period!

As Georgiana's own sad story tells us (she had quite an unhappy life living as wife to the Duke), but life is short and everyday is an opportunity to embrace romance and femininity.
